Black Soma Pilot

It all began a few years at the Student Acupuncture Clinic at my College in the United States. I started a free acupuncture program for black and brown women and children at the height of COVID and racial tension in the U.S. I started a Go Fund Me, and within two weeks I raised several thousand dollars. I helped many women from the edge of depression, stress, and anxiety. My project manager husband encouraged me to turn the free treatments into a pilot, which I did. The results collected were amazing.

The Black Soma Pilot is a more detailed look at how an integrated trauma-focused ancient meridian based approach of Classical Chinese Medicine can help Rwandan women who are from families that survived genocide. I will specifically looking at the use of the Eight Extraordinary Channels. This research focuses on the power of these channels to heal black and brown intergenerational trauma caused by racism, colonization and genocide. The research will form part of the book I am currently writing, The Stories in the Blood: Alchemy of Healing the Racialized Trauma Body
